Exhale Saddle Pads began in 2007 by Sayaka Yamaki, a huge horse lover. Sayaka used to ride and show hunt seat as a teenager at Dapper Dan Stables in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, then switched to dressage in her early 30's. She’s been riding her friend Kim's two Arabian horses in Southern New Hampshire since 2003, three seasons a year.

Sayaka’s good friend worked at Malden Mills, the original inventors of fleece. Fleece was developed for sports apparel for it’s wickability and breathability. She and her friend realized that an entirely fleece saddle pad would be fantastic for wicking away horse’s sweat. She first decided to make some saddle pads as gifts. After every friend fell in love with the saddle pads, she decided to make it a business.
